Highlands Christian Schools
Philosophy
VISION STATEMENT
Highlands Christian Schools’ vision is “Educating For Excellence.” Our vision is
that each student has intellectual, spiritual, physical and social excellence.
Intellectual Excellence - each will always continue learning, developing to
his/her highest possible achievement and be responsible citizens.
Spiritual Excellence - each will use their life skills to spread the Gospel to
those with whom they come in contact, articulating his/her life in a Biblical
world view.
Physical Excellence - each student will be a self-disciplined leader of
change in society, practice nutritional health, and live a lifestyle of physical
fitness.
Social Excellence - each student will be a leader of change for God and
the good of our country, community and home.
MISSION STATEMENT
Highlands Christian Schools’ mission is to enhance each student’s personal,
purposeful and process development.
Personal Development - it is our intent that each student will come to
a personal knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ, and that
each student will follow the example of Jesus in development and
growth - “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with
God and man.” (Luke 2:52)
Purposeful Development - each is unique, endowed with special gifts
and has a God-ordained purpose in life. (Psalm 139:13-16)
Process Development - HCS is a supplement to the educational
process in the home and that both seek to fulfill the Biblical injunction to
“train up a child in the way he should go.” (Proverbs 22:6)
PHILOSOPHICAL GOALS
WISDOM - that each student may develop intellect and talents to
expand his/her awareness of God’s Word, and the world and that
each student may master skills to function as a competent,
creative, productive and responsible member of the community.
STATURE - that each student may develop, nurture and discipline
his/her body, recognizing it to be the wonderful vehicle of
personality and the intended temple of the Holy Spirit.
FAVOR WITH GOD - that each student may understand and
accept God’s great love and receive Jesus Christ as his/her
personal Savior and that each student may learn, through a
joyous faith, to live in obedience to the Bible and to those in
authority.
FAVOR WITH MAN - that each student may appreciate his/her
worth as a creation of God and become increasingly unselfish,
gracious, honest, cooperative in relating to others and learning
personal discipline independent of outside constraints.
Parents are responsible for the complete education of their children.
Our school, founded on Christian values, supports the homes and
churches of students in providing an education that is grounded in the
Judeo-Christian values of the Bible as reflected in the life and
teachings of Jesus Christ. Highlands Christian Schools seek to admit
into the school, students of parents who will support the school’s
mission and educational philosophy.
The purpose of Highlands Christian Schools is to challenge each
student to achieve their utmost potential with academic
excellence, positive social relationships, Christian moral values,
spiritual development and physical growth opportunities. It means
teaching students at their individual level of understanding and
providing instruction at a pace in which they can succeed to their
highest potential.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE that the Bible is the only inspired and infallible Word of God and
that it is the ultimate source of authority in all matters of faith and personal
conduct.
WE BELIEVE that there is only one God, who is eternal and omnipotent,
existing in three persons; namely, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE that our Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was
born of the virgin Mary and is true God and true man.
WE BELIEVE that our Lord Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and performed all
the miracles attributed to Him in Scripture, that He died on the cross for man’s
sins, according to the Scriptures and that all who trust and obey Him have the
forgiveness of sins through His blood.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven
where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father and that He will return in
power and glory to judge both the living and the dead.
WE BELIEVE that man was created in the image of God but that he sinned and
was alienated from his Creator, which is spiritual death.
WE BELIEVE that one who has committed himself to Christ is indwelt by the
Holy Spirit who is his constant guide and teacher in living a Godly, victorious
and consecrated life.
WE BELIEVE in “that blessed hope,” the personal and imminent return of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE in eternal punishment for unbelievers and an eternal life with Christ
for believers. |
